Marisa Ostos has a passion for STEM, education, and equal opportunity for all. Intrigued by the idea of a statewide STEM initiative, she started with the Festival during its very first season as a student intern through Arizona State University. Now in her 6th year with the organization, Marisa holds the position as the Director of the Arizona SciTech Festival, with one of her favorite facets being able to have witnessed the Festival’s incredible growth and statewide impact over the years.
As the Director of the Festival, some of Marisa’s main projects include being the writer of the AZ SciTech E-NEWSletter, the manager of the Festival’s Volunteer & STREET Team, the main editor of AZ SciTech material, a key planner in the Kickoff Conference, a core community liaison between the Festival and its 100+ annual Signature Events and community partners, the manager of the Online Events Calendar and social media teams, and the co-writer of and the one in charge of running the logistics and statewide distribution of the annual Festival Events Program. Along with this, Marisa is one of the 5 core leaders in charge of the Arizona STEM Community of Practice as the SciTech representative alongside Executive Director Jeremy Babendure, and works as a Canvas Facilitator during the Arizona Chief Science Officers Summer & Fall Institutes.
Outside of her role with Arizona SciTech, Marisa is an annual Festival Manager of both the national Albuquerque and Tucson Tango Festivals, has a profound love of musical expression through means such as dancing Argentine Tango and singing, has experience with instructing at all age levels from the classroom to the individual level, and hopes through her lifetime to bring greater empowerment, equal opportunity, stronger community, and more access of resources to those in society who might benefit from it most.
