Denise Hicks is an Education Specialist in GATE with a focus in STEM. As a member of the Arizona Association of Gifted and Talented Board of Directors, she serves as a GATE District Lead in the Avondale School District and Instructor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Center for Equity in STEM at Arizona State University. Denise is passionate about college STEM outreach and accretion, in particular, for under-served and under-represented populations. As a member of the STEM Community of Practice Leadership Team and STREET Team Lead, Denise has worked with many on our convergence projects, such as our AzSciTech Festival and Chief Science Officer Program. Currently, she delights in spending time with her husband and two children while working on projects in Sustainability with Environmental Engineers and our United States Coast Guard. She has a love of urban engineering, swimming, digital arts & innovation, and the work of former military veterans and White House officials who have played a major role in the development of our US GATE and STEM programming.
