Science Alive! Bringing Science to Life for Philanthropic and Lay Audiences
The work of scientists and other technical experts depends on communication.
Today’s challenges increasingly call for interdisciplinary thinking, researchers find themselves communicating with larger and more diverse audiences. And the stakes are high. Progress, collaboration – even funding – can be lost or gained based on the quality of communication. Researchers who are comfortable presenting to nonspecialist audiences will find it easier to work together and communicate outcomes in a meaningful, personal and memorable way.
This fast-paced workshop will provide tools to help participants engage in more meaningful and effective ways with audience members. Through iteration and practice, participants will develop a short talk they can use for future speaking engagements, including a template from which to craft superior presentations.
